The primary objectives driving this event are as follows:
Conservation Education: Our foremost mission is to enlighten and instill awareness among the residents of Donyo Sabuk, Machakos, and Kiambu counties about the critical significance of preserving the Athi River ecosystem, with special emphasis on the protection of treasures like the 14 Falls and the Ol Donyo Sabuk National Park. Through informative workshops, engaging presentations, and interactive activities, our aim is to nurture a profound commitment to environmental stewardship.
Promoting Healthy Living: The Ol Donyo Sabuk Marathon actively advocates for physical fitness and a health-conscious lifestyle. We firmly believe that a healthy community is inherently better equipped to safeguard its natural surroundings. Individuals of all ages and fitness levels are warmly invited to participate in this event, fostering not only their individual well-being but also promoting unity within our community.
Promoting Sports as a Career: We recognize the potential of sports to drive economic development within our region. Access to The Event
If you’re traveling by road, Donyo Sabuk is situated 65 kilometers northeast of Nairobi. Start by taking the Nairobi – Thika Superhighway. Once you reach Thika town, continue for 22 kilometers along the main Garissa road until you reach the Makutano junction. Look out for the KWS sign at Makutano, then make a right turn. Follow this route for approximately 3 kilometers on a well-maintained all-weather murram road, and you’ll arrive in Donyo town.
About the organizers
Kapamba Self Help Group stands as a grassroots organization deeply devoted to twin missions: Environmental Conservation and enhancing the overall well-being of our members and the surrounding community.
Our organization boasts official recognition from the Ministry of Gender, Children & Social Development, with the registration number MTGLU/12/0070. The name “KAPAMBA” is an acronym thoughtfully formed from the initials of the villages we proudly represent: Kamunyu, Park, and Mbaringo.
At our core, we are on a mission to form alliances with kindred organizations, encompassing self-help groups, women’s associations, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), corporate entities, and government agencies. Together, we aim to harmoniously pursue our shared goals.
To sustain our endeavors, we’ve diligently set aside funds and devised a strategic plan to amplify these resources. We ardently believe that our forthcoming event will serve as a pivotal catalyst in advancing our central objectives
